Job summary

The City of Fort Worth's Park & Recreation Department seeks an Assistant Field Operations Supervisor at Pecan Valley Golf Course, a 36‑hole facility near Benbrook Lake. You will coordinate turf maintenance, manage daily work orders, and prep the course for tournaments.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 3 years' golf course experience, a Texas Class C Driver's License, and pesticide applicator license; a turf degree and irrigation knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Three years' experience in golf course maintenance or construction.
• Valid Texas Class C Driver's License.
• Possession of or ability to obtain within 6 months a Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicators License.
• Associate’s degree in Horticulture or turf-grass maintenance preferred.
• Experience with irrigation systems and course construction principles is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily work assignments and maintenance projects.
• Prepare the course for regular tournament play.
• Communicate with pro shop staff regarding course conditions.
• Maintain records of chemical applications.
• Order maintenance products and work on weekends/holidays as assigned.

Pay Range: $26.38 - $34.30 hourly | $54,879 - $71,343 annual compensation

An Assistant Field Operations Supervisor job is available with the City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department at Pecan Valley golf course. The Pecan Valley Golf Course is a 36-hole complex that includes a driving range and is located in southwest Fort Worth adjacent to Benbrook Lake. This facility features the River Course and the Hills Course. Pecan Valley Golf course is considered one of the best courses within Tarrant County.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Three (3) years of responsible experience in golf course maintenance or construction
• Valid Texas Class C Driver's License
• Possession of or the ability to obtain within 6 months a Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicators License

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Horticulture or turf-grass maintenance or higher
• Working knowledge and understanding of golf course construction principles, practices and methods, in addition to a comprehensive understanding of the rules of golf from an agronomic standpoint as well as player
• Experience troubleshooting & repairing hydraulic irrigation controllers and working with ultra-dwarf Bermuda grasses. As well as prior experience and supervision of greens aerification process
• Understanding or familiarity of Toro Lynx irrigation software or the ability to learn; detailed oriented and forward thinking
• A high degree of administrative ability and must be able to use Microsoft Word and Excel, while having the ability to provide excellent oral and written communication skills

The Assistant Field Operations Supervisor Job Responsibilities Include

• Associate’s degree in Horticulture or turf-grass maintenance or higher
• Coordinating daily work assignments, various projects, and normal agronomical cultural practices
• Daily preparation of the course for regular tournament play
• Communication with pro shop staff regarding course conditions
• Accurate record keeping of all chemical applications
• Ordering maintenance products as required and working weekends and holidays as assigned

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises.

Medium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
