Job summary

The Town of Lexington is accepting applications for an Assistant Field Inspector in the Utilities Department. Under limited supervision, you will inspect new and existing water lines, sewer lines, storm drainage lines, and streets and sidewalks to ensure installation meets state and Town specifications and regulations.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and may hold a technical college diploma in surveying, drafting, construction inspection or related field.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical college diploma in surveying, drafting, construction inspection or related field preferred.
• Water/wastewater construction or construction inspection experience preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain required trainings (asbestos O&M, CPR/First Aid, Confined Space Entry, traffic safety).
• Valid Class D SC driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect new and existing water lines, sewer lines, storm drainage lines, and streets and sidewalks to ensure installation meets state and Town specifications and regulations.
• Perform related technical work as required.
• Report to the Director of Utilities; take direction from the Inspector and Engineer.
• Position is considered essential personnel.

Education

Tools

Asbestos O&M facility worker license

CPR/First Aid certification

Competent person/confined space entry certification

Performs related technical work as required. Reports to the Director of Utilities; takes direction from the Inspector and Engineer. This position is considered essential personnel. Performs related work as required. Performs related general and technical work as required.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED; a technical college diploma in surveying, drafting, construction inspection or related field is preferred. Water/wastewater system construction and/or construction inspection experience is preferred. Must be able to complete & retain, as well as enforce, various training, including, but not limited to: asbestos O & M facility worker license, CPR/First Aid certification, competent person/confined space entry certification, traffic safety, etc. Must possess a valid class D South Carolina state driver’s license.
