Job description

Schedule: Full-Time (Monday–Sunday, including weekends and holidays)

Overview:

Deep Roots Farm is seeking a reliable, hardworking Farm Assistant Manager to help lead daily operations. This hands-on role includes working with crops, livestock, equipment, and facilities. Ideal candidates are physically capable, organized, and eager to grow within a dynamic farming environment. This is an on-site position, requiring travel to the farm each day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and lead daily farm operations, including planting, harvesting, and animal care
  • Assist in developing strategies to improve productivity and profitability
  • Maintain financial records (budgets, expenses, revenue); experience with QuickBooks is a plus
  • Hire, train, and supervise farm staff
  • Coordinate with suppliers and buyers for purchasing and sales
  • Identify and resolve issues related to farm operations
  • Maintain equipment and perform basic repairs
  • Operate tractors, RTVs, plows, seeders, and other machinery
  • Ensure compliance with GAP, food safety, and organic certification standards
  • Maintain accurate operational records in line with our Organic System Plan
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions; weekend and holiday work required

Qualifications:

  • Prior farm or agricultural experience preferred
  • Familiarity with agricultural techniques, equipment, and regulations
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor
  • Effective communication and leadership skills
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
  • Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and data entry
  • Knowledge of irrigation, pest control, and crop health practices
  • Experience with certified organic operations is a plus

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture or related field preferred
