Job summary

SMX is seeking an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to support our industrial security program for multiple clients. The role is remote with occasional travel to a Hollywood, MD based team. You will handle FCLs, training, inspections, and security process management across DCSA and client requirements.

Ideal candidates hold a TS clearance, a Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience, and proficiency in DISS/NISS/NBIS/SIMS/C-CURE. Competitive benefits and salary are provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years' experience as an AFSO or similar role.
• CDSE Possessing Curriculum completed or ability to complete within the first six months of employment.
• Fluent with DISS, NISS, NBIS, SWFT, SIMS, and c-CURE programs/systems.
• Active Top Secret security clearance.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Serve as AFSO for multiple Facility Clearances (FCLs) in compliance with NISPOM and client requirements.
• Interact with DCSA and client security stakeholders.
• Develop, maintain and implement SOPs and policies to ensure compliance.
• Process personnel security clearances using DISS/NBIS/SIMs.
• Develop and conduct in-house training for the industrial security program.
• Assist with SMX Insider Threat Program development and maintenance.
• Perform annual security self-inspections and track follow-up actions.
• Support DCSA and client inspections/assessments.

Job description

We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to support our industrial security program in support of multiple clients. The candidate will be a part of a collaborative team responsible for maintaining a compliant security program at SMX. This role is remote supporting a Hollywood, MD based team requiring occasional travel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Serve as AFSO for multiple Facility Clearances (FCLs) within the SMX security program in compliance with the 32 CFR Part 117, National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and other client-specific requirements.
• Interact with and maintain positive working relationships with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and client-specific security.
• Assist with developing, maintaining, and implementing standard operating procedures and standard practices and policies to ensure compliance.
• Process personnel security clearances (initial, reinvestigations) utilizing DISS and NBIS systems to include records management in SIMS.
• Assist with developing, conducting, and tracking required in-house training and briefings in support of the industrial security program, including initial, annual refresher, foreign travel, courier, derivative classification, NATO, OPSEC, and other client-specific trainings.
• Assist with developing and maintaining the SMX Insider Threat Program.
• Assist with annual security self-inspections to include documenting and tracking follow up actions.
• Participate in DCSA and client inspections/assessments.
• Process SCI requests utilizing ACCS and follow-through with indoctrination coordination.
• Process Visit Authorizations utilizing DISS and ACCS as needed
• Assist with preparation of DD254s and maintaining program security files.
• Submit CAC applications and manage CAC issuances and renewals for multiple programs.
• Assist with Security incident/violation investigations and reporting to DCSA via DISS.
• Prepare and submit system access forms such as DD2875s.
• Fulfill tickets in the ServiceNow environment to respond to employee needs and security requirements.
• Assist with reports to Government agencies as required by the 32 CFR Part 117 (counterintelligence concerns, suspicious contacts, espionage reports, etc.)
• Stay current with Industrial Security by continuing training, attending seminars, and being an active member of the Industrial Security community (local ISACs, NCMS, etc.)
• Assist with maintaining FCL records in NISS.
• Support recruiting efforts by providing clearance verifications as needed.
• Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports as needed to SMX Security management and clients for contract compliance.
• Assist with building badge profiles in c-CURE and managing facility accesses as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years' experience as an AFSO or similar role

The proposed salary for this position is:

$66,100—$110,000 USD
