Job summary

SMX is seeking an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to support an industrial security program across multiple clients. This remote role supports a Hollywood, MD based team with occasional travel, ensuring compliant security procedures and program administration.

The incumbent will manage clearances, training, reports, and inspections, while maintaining relationships with DCSA and client security personnel. A bachelors degree and a TS clearance are required, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years’ experience as an AFSO or similar role.
• CDSE Possessing Curriculum completed or ability to complete in first 6 months.
• Fluent with DISS, NISS, NBIS, SWFT, SIMS, and c-CURE systems.
• Active Top Secret security clearance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Serve as AFSO for multiple Facility Clearances (FCLs) in compliance with NISPOM.
• Interact with DCSA and client security teams to maintain relations.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and policies.
• Process security clearances and records management in SIMS.
• Coordinate training and briefings for the industrial security program.
• Assist with the Insider Threat Program and annual self-inspections.
• Support inspections/assessments by DCSA and clients.
• Manage CAC issuances, INDOC coordination, and security reporting.

Job description

We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to support our industrial security program in support of multiple clients. The candidate will be a part of a collaborative team responsible for maintaining a compliant security program at SMX. This role is remote supporting a Hollywood, MD based team requiring occasional travel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Serve as AFSO for multiple Facility Clearances (FCLs) within the SMX security program in compliance with the 32 CFR Part 117, National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and other client-specific requirements.
• Interact with and maintain positive working relationships with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and client-specific security.
• Assist with developing, maintaining, and implementing standard operating procedures and standard practices and policies to ensure compliance.
• Process personnel security clearances (initial, reinvestigations) utilizing DISS and NBIS systems to include records management in SIMS.
• Assist with developing, conducting, and tracking required in-house training and briefings in support of the industrial security program, including initial, annual refresher, foreign travel, courier, derivative classification, NATO, OPSEC, and other client-specific trainings.
• Assist with developing and maintaining the SMX Insider Threat Program.
• Assist with annual security self-inspections to include documenting and tracking follow up actions.
• Participate in DCSA and client inspections/assessments.
• Process SCI requests utilizing ACCS and follow-through with indoctrination coordination.
• Process Visit Authorizations utilizing DISS and ACCS as needed
• Assist with preparation of DD254s and maintaining program security files.
• Submit CAC applications and manage CAC issuances and renewals for multiple programs.
• Assist with Security incident/violation investigations and reporting to DCSA via DISS.
• Prepare and submit system access forms such as DD2875s.
• Fulfill tickets in the ServiceNow environment to respond to employee needs and security requirements.
• Assist with reports to Government agencies as required by the 32 CFR Part 117 (counterintelligence concerns, suspicious contacts, espionage reports, etc.)
• Stay current with Industrial Security by continuing training, attending seminars, and being an active member of the Industrial Security community (local ISACs, NCMS, etc.)
• Assist with maintaining FCL records in NISS.
• Support recruiting efforts by providing clearance verifications as needed.
• Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports as needed to SMX Security management and clients for contract compliance.
• Assist with building badge profiles in c-CURE and managing facility accesses as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years' experience as an AFSO or similar role
• Completed (or ability to complete within the first six months of employment) CDSE Possessing Curriculum
• Fluent with DISS, NISS, NBIS, SWFT, SIMS, and c-CURE programs/systems
• Active Top Secret security clearance
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Strong written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to exercise mature judgment and confidentiality.
• Ability to work well alone and as part of a team.

The proposed salary for this position is:

$66,100—$110,000 USD
