Job summary

Stratolaunch is seeking an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to support the Facility Security Officer in administering the security program at Mojave, CA. You will help implement policies, manage industrial security operations, and ensure compliance with NISPOM, DoD contracts, and safeguarding of classified information.

The role requires DoD contracting experience, a related bachelor’s degree, and specific security certifications.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of defense contracting / U.S. military or federal government experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Completed DSS FSO Program Management Course for Processing Facilities preferred.
• 2–3 years of experience as an AFSO preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience working in SAP preferred.
• $26.00–$46.40 hourly.

Responsibilities

• Acts as chief assistant to the FSO, assisting with policy implementation and daily security functions.
• Oversees day-to-day industrial security operations per NISPOM, laws, and DoD requirements.
• Manages security clearance paperwork for completeness and accuracy.
• Maintains personnel security records and fingerprinting quality assurance.
• Ensures safeguarding of classified information and compliance with security policy.
• Ensures DD Form 254s are properly handled and applied.
• Implements Security Education, Training, and Awareness programs.
• Executes visitor control and access verification for classified info.
• Addresses security inquiries from government agencies and management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Stratolaunch is looking for an amazingly talented Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to join our team! In this role you will assist the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in administering and managing the Security Program, providing policies, plans, procedures, departmental instructions, and technical support of safeguards and security programs to protect client security interests.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Acts as the chief assistant to the FSO regarding not only implementation of security policy and procedures but also in assisting with the management of other security team members' daily functions.
• Oversees day-to-day Industrial security facility operations and administering industrial security programs in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), applicable laws, regulations, and DoD contractual requirements.
• Manages the processing of security clearance paperwork, including collection and review of relevant documents and information for completeness, consistency, and accuracy
• Maintains personnel security records and databases, including quality assurance and control of the fingerprinting process.
• Ensures compliance with all security requirements for the marking, handling, and safeguarding of classified information received and stored within the facility, to include both information and physical security policy and procedures.
• Ensures program requirements regarding Department of Defense Contract Security Classification Specifications (DD Form 254s)
• Implements Security Education, Training, and Awareness Programs
• Executes visitor control functions to include processing of incoming and outgoing visit requests and verifying incoming visitor identification, prior to allowing access to classified information
• Verifies preparation of essential reports, troubleshooting industrial security issues, and providing assistance in resolving all concerns and queries from government agencies and company management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills You Bring to This Role

• DCSA CDSE FSO Certified preferred (Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency, Center for Development of Security Excellence, Facility Security Officer).
• Defense Information System for Security (DISS).
• Communication Security (COMSEC).
• Documentation Control and Accountability.
• Security Education Training and Awareness (SETA).
• Self-starter able to work and operate with minimal supervision.
• Must be an effective communicator.

What You Need to be Successful

• 3+ years of relative experience in defense contracting industry, U.S. military and/or federal government.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Completed DSS FSO Program Management Course for Processing Facilities preferred.
• 2 - 3 years of experience as an AFSO preferred.
• 1- 2 years of experience working in Special Access Programs (SAP) preferred.
• $26.00-$46.40 hourly

Clearance Requirement

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

Base salary and leveling are established on a case-by-case basis. We consider several factors to ensure a competitive offer, including your location, educational background, and a comprehensive assessment of the skills and experience demonstrated during your interviews.
