Job summary

Stratolaunch is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance and Systems Technician in Mojave, CA. You will fabricate, install, troubleshoot, and maintain airframe and systems, ensuring adherence to standards and accurate MDL entries.

The role requires an A&P license, 5+ years in related work, and the ability to work with engineers to resolve design and installation challenges. Some travel and a 4/10 schedule may apply.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in aircraft systems troubleshooting, fabrication, installation and maintenance.
  • A&P license required.
  • Experience with line maintenance incl. preflight/postflight/launch/recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Install, test and maintain aircraft systems and components (fuel, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical/avionics, engine).
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections and repairs.
  • Document maintenance in the Aircraft Maintenance Discrepancy Log (MDL).
  • Interpret Electrical Schematics for avionics installations.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to resolve build issues and improve processes.
  • Mentor teammates and uphold safety standards and tool control.

Job description

A&P License Required

The Aircraft Maintenance and Systems Technician will be responsible for fabrication, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and modifications on aircraft airframe, systems, and components. The candidate should thrive in a high paced environment and be comfortable with the design, development, and test life cycle of rapid aerospace R&D. As Stratolaunch expands our program base this person may be tasked to other, new projects and in the development of vehicles requiring the skills, knowledge and abilities utilized on this current project.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Installation, testing and maintenance of aircraft systems and components with typically zero workmanship defects including but not limited to:
  • Fuel systems and components
  • Hydraulic systems and components
  • Pneumatic systems and components
  • Electrical / Avionics systems and components
  • Engine systems and components
  • Airframe and aircraft structures
  • Performscheduled and unscheduled maintenance operations on aircraft to include inspections, repairs, Airworthiness directives, Modifications and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of aircraft systems, components, and structures to identify any issues or potential problems.
  • Perform all line maintenance functions to include preflight, post flight, launch, and recovery of aircraft.
  • Ensure proper and timely entry of maintenance performed in the Aircraft Maintenance Discrepancy Log (MDL)
  • Able to Operate all power tools and equipment necessary to accomplish job assignments with an expert level of proficiency
  • Maintain aircraft in accordance with work instructions, the inspection plan and adhere to established standards such as AC 43-13, technical manuals, blueprints, or sketches for acceptable systems installation methods, techniques, and practices
  • Able to interpret and follow Electrical Schematics for the installation of avionics components.
  • Operate-related ground handling equipment utilized to service the aircraft when required
  • Able to work in confined spaces or heights greater than 25 feet as required
  • Able to effectively communicate and partner with Engineering in order to solve design/installation problems, reduce defects, and improve build time
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform in the capacity of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) applying expertise obtained through deep and broad industry knowledge acquired through years of experience or a combination of achieved higher education and related years of work experience within other companies.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years’ experience in aircraft systems troubleshooting, fabrication, installation and maintenance preferred, Including multiple of the following:
  • Fuel systems and components
  • Hydraulic systems and components
  • Pneumatic systems and components
  • Electrical / Avionics systems and components
  • Engine systems and components
  • Airframe and aircraft structures
  • Experiencewith line maintenance functions to include preflight, post flight, launch, and recovery of aircraft.
  • Experience fabricating, maintaining, replacing, or modifying aircraft structure or sub-systems such as Sheetmetal experience; bending, riveting, fasteners, treatment of metal, or changing large LRU’s & subs system components such as flight control systems, landing gear systems, pneumatic systems, etc.
  • Strong understanding and Discipling in FOD and tool control
  • Detail oriented – strong attention to detail
  • Ability to solve problems and adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently when needed, responsible, take the initiative to help train/mentor direct team members
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
  • Physically able to handle items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Other duties as determined/assigned by management
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Level I ($29.30-$35.89): High school diploma or equivalency certificate and 2-5 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, systems fabrication, installation
  • Level II ($26.00-$46.42): High school diploma or equivalency certificate and 5-10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, systems fabrication, installation
  • A&P License (Required)
  • IA (Preferred but not required)
  • Flight line or flight test experience (Preferred)
