Job summary

Stratolaunch is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance & Systems Technician in Mojave, CA to fabricate, install, maintain and troubleshoot carrier aircraft systems. You will work in a fast-paced aerospace R&D environment, supporting development and testing cycles and collaborating with Engineering.

The role requires 2+ years of related experience, ability to work second shift, and flexibility for weekends. LRU subsystems, sheetmetal tasks and large aircraft structures may be involved.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of aircraft systems troubleshooting, fabrication, installation and maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fabrication, installation, testing and maintenance of carrier aircraft systems and components including fuel systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, engine systems, airframe and structures.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance incl. inspections, repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of aircraft systems, components and structures to identify issues.
  • Identify and resolve mechanical problems based on inspections or reports from pilot or crew.
  • Perform line maintenance functions: preflight, post flight, launch and recovery.
  • Enter maintenance in the Aircraft Maintenance Discrepancy Log (MDL).
  • Operate power tools and equipment needed for assignments.
  • Maintain aircraft per instructions, manuals, blueprints, ensuring proper installation methods.
  • Work with ground handling equipment and work in confined spaces or heights.
  • Communicate with Engineering and work collaboratively.

Aircraft Maintenance & Systems Technician

We deliver flight data critical to validating system performance and achieving rapid technology deployment. The Aircraft Maintenance and Systems Technician will be responsible for fabrication, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and modifications on the carrier aircraft airframe and systems. The candidate should thrive in a high paced environment and be comfortable with the design, development, and test life cycle of rapid aerospace R&D. As Stratolaunch expands our program base this person may be tasked to other, new projects and in the development of vehicles requiring the skills, knowledge and abilities utilized on this current project.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Fabrication, installation, testing and maintenance of carrier aircraft systems and components including:

  • Fuel systems and components

  • Hydraulic systems and components

  • Pneumatic systems and components

  • Electrical systems and components

  • Engine systems and components

  • Airframe and aircraft structures

  • Performscheduled and unscheduled maintenance operations on aircraft to include inspections, repairs, and troubleshooting activities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of aircraft systems, components, and structures to identify any issues or potential problems

  • Identify and resolve mechanical problems based on visual inspections or reports from pilot or crew

  • Perform all line maintenance functions to include preflight, post flight, launch, and recovery of aircraft

  • Ensure proper and timely entry of maintenance performed in the Aircraft Maintenance Discrepancy Log (MDL)

  • Operate all power tools and equipment necessary to accomplish job assignment

  • Maintain carrier aircraft in accordance with work instructions, the inspection plan and adhere to established standards such as AC 43-13, technical manuals, blueprints, or sketches for acceptable systems installation methods, techniques, and practices

  • Operate related ground handling equipment utilized to service the aircraft

  • Able to work in confined spaces or heights greater than 25 feet as required

  • Able to effectively communicate and partner with Engineering


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years' experience in aircraft systems troubleshooting, fabrication, installation and maintenance preferred, Including multiple of the following:

  • Fuel systems and components

  • Hydraulic systems and components

  • Pneumatic systems and components

  • Electrical systems and components

  • Engine systems and components

  • Airframe and aircraft structures

  • Experiencewith line maintenance functions to include preflight, post flight, launch, and recovery of aircraft

  • Experience maintaining, replacing, or modifying large aircraft structure or sub-systems such as Sheetmetal experience; bending, riveting, fasteners, treatment of metal, or changing large LRU's & subs system components such as flight control systems, landing gear systems, pneumatic systems, etc.

  • Strong understanding of the importance of FOD control and tool control

  • Detail oriented - strong attention to detail

  • Ability to problem solve and adapt quickly to changing priorities

  • Ability to work independently, responsible, take the initiative

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

  • Physically able to handle items weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Other duties as determined/assigned by management

  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Level I ($31.67-$45.92): High school diploma or equivalency certificate and 2-5 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, systems fabrication, installation

  • Level II ($38.51-$55.85): High school diploma or equivalency certificate and 5-10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, systems fabrication, installation

  • A&P license (Preferred but not required)

  • IA (Preferred but not required)

  • Flight line or flight test experience (Preferred)
