Job Title: Assistant Event Coordinator - Maggie Daley Park

Reports To: Event Coordinator

Employment Type: Full-Time/Salaried - Exempt

Position Overview: Maggie Daley Park is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Event Coordinator to support planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of various events. This role offers hands-on experience in event coordination, public space activation, and park programming in Chicago’s iconic downtown park.

The Assistant Event Coordinator will collaborate with the Event Coordinator and Operations team to ensure smooth event execution, focusing on guest experience for events like community festivals, weddings, fitness classes, and seasonal attractions such as The Ribbon and the Holiday Light Show.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist with event logistics, including setup, signage, supplies, and checklists.
  2. Support day-of operations, vendor check-in, and volunteer coordination.
  3. Maintain event spaces for safety, cleanliness, and readiness.
  4. Act as a friendly on-site representative during events.
  5. Assist guests, answer questions, and provide directions.
  6. Respond to issues during programming.
  7. Manage event materials, storage, and inventory.
  8. Collect data such as headcounts and feedback surveys.
  9. Communicate with vendors, staff, and partners.
  10. Support a unified park experience with the team.
  11. Attend meetings and contribute ideas for improvement.
  12. Participate in brainstorming for new programs and seasonal activations.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Communications, or related field preferred; relevant experience may suffice.
  • 0–2 years experience in events, recreation, hospitality, or customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude, ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather and be physically active.
  • Availability to work weekends, evenings, mornings, and holidays.
Salary & Benefits:

Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000

Physical Demands:

Must lift up to 50 lbs, work indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather, and stand or walk for 8-10 hours daily.
