Job summary

Rosendin Electric, Inc in Tempe, AZ seeks an Assistant Estimator to support estimators and project managers on bid-ready packages. You will quantify take-offs, compile data for proposals, and help identify qualified suppliers and quotes.

You will maintain files of bidding documents, coordinate with subcontractors, and ensure take-offs align with project scope. The role involves data entry into estimating systems, collaborating with the team, and supporting study of costs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and organize bid package estimate documents.
  • Maintain files of working documents for backup to estimating methods.
  • Distribute bidding documents to subs and vendors as directed.
  • Collaborate with estimators and PMs to ensure estimates align with scope.

YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY

The Assistant Estimator is responsible for assisting Estimators/Project Managers and will play a crucial role in supporting new project development including quantifying take-offs, calculating, and compiling data for use in preparation of proposals

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Perform detailed data quantity take-offs based on project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents for data entry into the computer estimating system.
  • Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes.
  • Participate in developing and organizing bid package estimate documents.
  • Maintain files of working documents for backup to estimating assumptions and methodologies.
  • Distribute bidding documents to sub-contractors and vendors at the direction of the Estimator.
  • Collaborate with other estimators and project managers to ensure the estimate take-offs are aligned with the project’s scope of work and requirements.
  • Perform additional assignments per the supervisor's direction.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • Calculate mathematical extensions, read, and understand construction documents
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary
  • Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
  • Oral and written communication skills as required for the position
  • Self-motivated and can work independently and as part of a team
  • Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others
WHAT YOU BRING TO US
  • Minimum 2 years of post secondary non-degree award in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience

WORKING CONDITIONS

General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite. We fully comply with the ADA and applicable state law, including considering reasonable accommodation measures that may enable qualified disabled applicants and employees to perform essential functions. Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
