Your role:

We are looking for an Assistant Editor (Maternity Cover) to hit the ground running each morning with the best of US news and set up our New York office for the day.

This is a news role, but as part of a small team you will be expected to turn your hand to stories across multiple desks, handling entertainment, lifestyle and consumer lines, as well as more traditional news.

This is an incredible opportunity to help shape our future development from the ground up and to set the news agenda each day for the-sun.com.

The role is based in London. You must be eligible to work in the UK.

  • Work with US News Editor and Head of News based in NYC on forward planning
  • Produce exclusive stories, prepare interviews, and generate video ideas
  • Help oversee breaking news preparation and planning
  • Occasionally help US news editors brief and edit reporters in afternoons
What we're looking for from you:
  • Solid experience in journalism and editing
  • A strong background in news reporting
  • Experience in leading more junior reporters
