Job summary

Westwood Specialty Care, a 85-bed long-term care skilled nursing community in Sioux City, IA, is now hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing (RN) to join our compassionate care team across multiple facilities.

In this on-site leadership role, you will assist the DON, supervise nursing staff, ensure regulatory compliance, participate in on-call rotation, and support high-quality resident care with a focus on teamwork and safety.

Qualifications

• Valid RN license in good standing in Iowa or ability to activate
• Current CPR Certification
• Knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations and laws
• A desire to learn and grow as part of a quality focused clinical team
• A strong commitment to empathy, respect, patience and discretion

Responsibilities

• Assist the DON in planning, organizing, and directing the nursing department
• Conduct rounds to monitor care delivery and propose solutions
• Enforce policies and guide the team toward high-quality care
• Coach RNs to promote teamwork
• Manage administrative functions to improve department efficiency
• Communicate with residents and families regarding care needs
• Document care to meet clinical and regulatory standards
• Follow infection control, safety, and compliance protocols
• Participate in an on-call rotation with leadership team

What You’ll Do & Key Responsibilities

• Assist the DON in planning, organizing, and directing the nursing department, with the aim of gaining valuable experience and expertise for potential advancement within the organization.
• Conduct regular rounds to monitor care delivery concerns and progress; acknowledge the progress while proposing and helping implement solutions to address concerns.
