Qualifications

• Law school graduates (Juris Doctorate) and certification per SJC Rule 3:03.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook).
• Familiarity with Hampden District Attorney's Office policies and Massachusetts Rules of Professional Conduct.
• Participation in relevant trainings.
• Professional interaction with public, judicial and law enforcement personnel.
• Timely, accurate completion of assignments; background check required.

Responsibilities

• Prosecute all criminal cases in District and Juvenile Courts in Hampden County.
• Review police reports and charging decisions; make recommendations.
• Handle arraignments, bail requests, and detention hearings as appropriate.
• Provide mandatory discovery to defendants/defense counsel.
• Prepare memoranda and briefs for pretrial motions and case resolutions.
• Review case files, statutes and case law for recommendations.
• Confer with defense counsel for case resolution; assist with mental health matters.
• Oversee case resolution by plea, trial, or dismissal; comply with Victim's Bill of Rights.
