Job summary

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln invites applications for the Assistant Director, TRIO Student Support Services in Lincoln, Nebraska. This full-time position leads high-impact programs supporting first-generation and underserved students to persist, graduate, and advance through college.

The role oversees program development, budgeting, staff supervision, and partnership building with campus and community stakeholders to meet DoE TRIO objectives and deliver measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, leadership, public administration, psychology/counseling, or related field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working in higher education and/or in the administration of programs serving low-income or 1st generation populations.
  • Two years of experience supervising staff.
  • Ability to develop programming to aid in student college success.
  • Ability to support ongoing professional development for staff.
  • Ability to provide leadership for program planning, to coordinate work efforts, to control performance standards, and to build and sustain University support relationships.
  • Maintain accurate student records and produce reports on student progress as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attendance at conferences and workshops sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and other TRIO-affiliated associations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities

Description of Work

The Assistant Director of TRIO Student Support Services ( SSS ) makes a positive impact in the University’s students by providing leadership for programs that support the persistence, retention, and graduation of first-generation, low-income, and disabled University of Nebraska-Lincoln students.

The Assistant Director, TRIO Student Support Services will:

  • Administer and implement innovative and high-impact programs and services for SSS participants to aid in retention and graduation

Minimum Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience working with a TRIO program, SSS preferred
  • Experience with data management for TRIO programs and/or reporting to the Department of Education
  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing a budget
  • Experience managing and meeting grant objectives and expectations.
