Job summary

Carleton College seeks an energetic Assistant Director of Student Activities to support a vibrant co-curricular program for ~2,000 undergraduates. You will advise 200+ student organizations, oversee events like New Student Week and Sproncert, and coordinate budgets around $1.2M.

The role requires evening/weekend flexibility, strong DEI program experience, and supervision of student staff. Located in Northfield, MN, 40 hours/week, 1.0 FTE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 2 years of directly related full-time, professional experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for diverse student communities.
• Detailed-oriented and willingness to learn.
• Ability to act with courtesy, tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
• Desire to support students at a small private liberal arts college.
• Experience with event planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Willingness to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to obtain a Minnesota Driver’s License within one month of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation and assessment of student events and programs.
• Serve as resource and advisor for multiple student organizations.
• Address risk management related to advising student organizations.
• Assist with travel arrangements for college-sponsored activities.
• Supervise student employees and advise on publications and marketing.
• Design and maintain departmental websites and manage social media.
• Oversee budgeting and venue management for student activities.
