Job summary

State of Maine seeks an experienced Assistant Director for the Division for the Blind and Visually Impaired (DBVI) within the Department of Labor to lead programs serving individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Qualifications

• Eight years of experience managing or overseeing programs serving individuals who are blind or visually impaired, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and contract requirements related to DBVI programs.
• Strong leadership, communication, and budget management skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain partnerships with state agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for DBVI programs and services.
• Oversee day-to-day operations and monitor program performance and compliance.
• Develop and implement policies, initiatives, and budgets in collaboration with the Director.
• Supervise staff and promote a collaborative, inclusive work environment.
• Represent DBVI in public forums and with external partners.
