Position Title: Assistant Director of Student Success
Compensation: $50,000-55,000

About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Assistant Dean and Director of Student Success,the Assistant Director of Student Success is responsible fordeveloping and implementing programs, partnerships, and resourcesto support students’ academic success and career readiness for ournearly 70 distinct majors in the College of Sciences and Humanities(CSH) with the goal of increasing student retention and success forour more than nearly 4,000 undergraduate majors. The AssistantDirector is responsible for the daily operations of the growing CSHSuccess Hub that sees more than 3,000 student visits eachsemester.
Primary Responsibilities
- Interacts with and supports students at programs and events andthrough individual scheduled and drop-in sessions to discuss areasof concern.
- Assists in the planning and execution of targeted, innovativeand evidence-based programs and services for students aimed atimproving student success and retention with emphasis on academupport and career readiness.
- Supports the Assistant Dean to coordinate recruitment andorientation activities including prospective undergraduate studentvisits, admissions events such as Cardinal Preview Days, CSHPreview Day, Admitted Student Day, and orientation programs.
- Assists with the college’s Welcome Week activities with ouracademic departments in collaboration with the Associate Dean andAssistant Dean.
- Works with campus partners and stakeholders forcross-departmental student success initiatives, providinginformation, securing space reservations, scheduling planningmeetings, and providing necessary documentation and reports.
- Partners with the Assistant Dean and CSH Dean’s CommunicationsTeam to develop annual CSH Success Hub marketing plan, promotionalmaterials, and publications, and maintains update-to-date contenton the CSH Success Hub website.
- Manages, and creates content for, the CSH Success Hub’s socialmedia and Canvas Community platforms.
- Utilizes BSU technology platforms to document student support,track attendance at CSH Success Hub events/programs, conductstudent outreach, respond to Navigate alerts, and analyzetrends.
- Recruits, supervises, and evaluates the activities andperformance of CSH Success Hub graduate assistant and undergraduateemployees including onboarding, training, assigning and reviewingwork in collaboration with the Assistant Dean.
- Facilitates the assessment and evaluation of CSH’s studentretention and success initiatives.
- Assists with the preparation of post-program/event reports andthe CSH Success Hub Year-in-Review report.
- Represents the college on select university committees asneeded.
- Supports the mission, values, and goals of Ball StateUniversity and the College of Sciences and Humanities.
- Other duties as requested by the Assistant Dean.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, sociology, orrelated field by date of hire.
- At least 3 years of experience working in education, nonprofit,or related field.
- Experience planning small and large-scale events for a diversepopulation of stakeholders, such as students, faculty, families,alumni, and/or donors.
- Display independent, professional judgment and organizationalskills to plan, prioritize, and manage a diverse workload withsensitivity and confidentiality while maintaining accuracy with themany details.
- Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data as well ascreatively solve problems.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively withina team and assume responsibility for problem-solving.
- Strong communication, administrative, and presentationskills.
- Resounding commitment to excellence and genuine care forstudent success.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, andother common software packages.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field with at least 4 years ofrelated work experience in higher education or related field.
- Knowledge of and experience with student success, admissions,advising, and/or student developmental theory.
- Supervisory experience in higher education, especially instudent-facing roles.
