Job description

Position Title: Assistant Director

Compensation: $43,000 - $45,000

Department: Career Center

This role provides leadership in career development and alumni engagement at Ball State University. The Assistant Director manages key programs, coordinates career services, and collaborates with faculty, staff, and employers to support students and alumni.

Responsibilities
  • Implement all aspects of the KEY Careers Freshman and Sophomore exploration program.
  • Serve as a liaison to students, alumni, faculty, and assigned colleges, coordinating career development and job search programs.
  • Provide career advising for students and alumni through individual appointments and group presentations.
  • Support departmental employer relations and recruitment activities, including career fairs, networking events, and informational sessions.
  • Develop and present departmental programs and workshops on career planning, professional development, and job search strategies.
  • Serve on the Program Coordinating Group to plan and implement departmental programs and assess learning outcomes.
  • Supervise student career assistants or graduate assistants as assigned.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings to manage programming, services, calendars, policies, procedures, and other administrative details required by the Career Center.
  • Represent the Career Center on appropriate university committees.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution and experience working one‑on‑one with individuals, engaging with groups, and monitoring program outcomes.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree from an accredited institution; experience in higher‑education career services, counseling, academic advising, residence life, admissions, or related roles; supervisory experience; skill in new media for online service delivery.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong public‑speaking, advising, professional‑writing, program‑design, project‑organization, and time‑management skills.
