Job summary

Suffolk University is seeking an Assistant Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations to partner with the alumni and advancement teams. The role focuses on developing a comprehensive stewardship and donor relations program, including personalized initiatives for principal and major gifts and planning donor engagement events.

You will manage communications, reports, and video engagements while coordinating with campus partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.

  • Hybrid schedule, three days in the office and two remote, to ensure a consistent campus presence and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with frontline fundraisers to implement stewardship programs for donors and prospects with principal gifts ($1M+) and major gifts ($50k+).
  • Manage development materials including donor impact reports, major gift presentations and related print items.
  • Craft personalized Thankview videos for major and principal gift donors.
  • Assist in planning and executing stewardship and donor recognition events.
  • Communicate with donors and build relationships to support stewardship initiatives.
  • Support student scholarship donor acknowledgments and annual scholarship fund reporting to endowed and term funds.
  • Coordinate donor recognition gifts for principal and major donors.
  • Assist with donor gift acknowledgement letters and related research.
  • Develop donor relations strategy for Suffolk University.

The Assistant Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations workswith the Assistant Vice President of Alumni Engagement and DonorRelations to develop and implement a comprehensive stewardship anddonor relations program that maintains consistent engagement withdonors through a variety of events, communications, and personaloutreach. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of AlumniEngagement and Donor Relations works closely with colleagues acrossthe Advancement function to cultivate and build donor relationshipsand express the University’s gratitude to donors, ensuring thatthey are appreciated, informed, and engaged. This position plays akey role in leading a stewardship program that successfullycommunicates to donors at all levels the transformational impact oftheir support, including assisting with personalized stewardshipinitiatives for principal and major gift donors. This positionserves as project manager for stewardship activities includingreports, publications, and a variety of correspondence and videoengagement. This position also leads or assists with diverse alumniand donor engagement events and other institutional events, frommajor donor recognition events and naming dedications to smallgatherings with University and Advancement leadership toCommencement and Reunion activities.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Works directly with frontline fundraisers to implement stewardship programs for donors and prospects associated with principal gifts ($1M and above) and major gifts ($50k andabove)
  • Works with colleagues including the Sr. Director of Advancement Communications to manage the development and creationof donor impact reports, major gift presentations and reports, andother print materials related to donor recognition
  • Crafts personalized Thankview videos for major and principalgift donors
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of a variety ofspecial stewardship and donor recognition events
  • Communicates with donors and builds relationships in supportof their stewardship and special initiatives
  • In conjunction with other Advancement colleagues, assists withthe student scholarship recipient thank you program and annualscholarship fund reporting to all donors with endowed and termfunds
  • Coordinates other stewardship initiatives as identified suchas donor photo albums and framed photos and memorabilia, and a widerange of donor recognition gifts for principal and major giftdonors in particular
  • Assists with the process related to donor gift acknowledgementletters and related research and communications as required,particularly at the Summa level of $1K+
  • Assists in developing donor relations strategy for SuffolkUniversity
Job Requirements

  • The Division of Advancement operates on a hybrid schedule, withthree days per week in the office and two remote, to ensure aconsistent campus presence and support collaboration. Suffolkvalues in-person engagement, which strengthens relationships acrossAdvancement and the broader campus community and supports effectiveplanning and execution of events and initiatives. Additionalin-office presence may be required based on business needs, event schedules, and operational priorities. On remote days, it isexpected for employees to be fully available during regular workinghours and responsive to colleagues, volunteers, and campuspartners. In-office days may occasionally shift to accommodateevent preparation and key responsibilities

The salary range for this role is $46,500.00 to $77,500.00.
