Montage International is seeking an Assistant Spa Director to manage day-to-day operations and develop long-term directions for the spa department within a luxury hotel environment. Responsibilities include staffing, performance coaching, financial oversight, departmental SOPs, and initiatives to increase revenue while maintaining luxury standards.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent education required.

• 3 years spa management experience in a luxury hotel or resort environment required, with a strong emphasis in customer service.

SUMMARY

The Assistant Spa Director is responsible for management and day to day operations for the department’s development of long term directions, support of the hotel’s Vision, Mission and Values; including profitable financial management, effective leadership, excellent customer service skills, and supervision of department requirements and standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assisting with the screening and selection of all qualified spa candidates, communicating performance expectations, and providing Associates with on-going feedback, mentoring and conducting official performance reviews. Providing Associates with coaching and counseling as needed to achieve performance objectives and reach their fullest potential. Overseeing operations in all Spa departments including: Therapy rooms, Guest Reception, Fitness, Pool and Spa Retail operations. Assisting with the developing and monitoring of financial strategies to increase revenues while controlling operating expenses, monitoring annual budget and forecasts, reviewing monthly financial statements, utilizing yield management strategies, implementing inventory management and purchasing procedures, as well as monitoring and adjusting staffing levels, spa service appointments and operational expenses, to maximize spa profitability. Developing and enforcing standard operating systems. Coordinating new hire and continuing training programs and ensuring the facility is maintained to luxury spa standards. Strategically and proactively developing programs, marketing initiatives and promotions to increase revenue generating opportunities, enhance the guest experience, and increase the repeat guest base. Creating Wellness and Fitness experiences that align with guest interests and ability levels. Supporting public relations and marketing requests relative to Spa programming. Establishing beneficial partnerships with all product, equipment, and supply vendors that include competitive pricing, technical support, training programs and promotions.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school or equivalent education required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred 3 years spa management experience in a luxury hotel or resort environment required, with a strong emphasis in customer service. Must possess strong business and organizational skills as well as have creative energies and the ability to motivate and inspire a talented and diverse spa team. Exceptional skills in running a large spa and salon operation. Creating a supportive and nurturing environment which consistently delivers a spa experience that exceeds guest and Associates expectations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to sit at a desk for at least 5 hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day. This includes travelling to and from meetings. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
