Job summary

Care Initiatives is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON - RN) to lead our nursing teams within our Iowa communities. You will plan, organize, and direct the nursing department while maintaining regulatory compliance and delivering high-quality resident care.

As an RN leader, you will supervise RNs, support the DON, and participate in an on-call rotation. This role emphasizes compassionate leadership, staff development, and a commitment to advancing the organization’s care standards.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (state of Iowa)
• Current CPR certification
• Knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations
• Leadership experience in nursing care
• Strong commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care

Responsibilities

• Assist the DON in planning, organizing, and directing the nursing department to support advancement within the organization.
• Conduct regular rounds to monitor care delivery and progress; acknowledge progress and propose solutions.
• Enforce policies and guide the team, promoting growth.
• Support and coach RNs to encourage teamwork and high-quality care.
• Manage administrative functions to improve department efficiency.
• Communicate effectively with residents and families about care needs.
• Document care accurately to meet clinical and regulatory standards.
• Follow infection control, safety, and compliance protocols at all times.
• Participate in an on-call rotation with other leadership team members.

What You’ll Do & Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular rounds to monitor care delivery concerns and progress; acknowledge the progress while proposing and helping implement solutions to address concerns.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license in good standing. License must be valid within the state of Iowa, or ability to activate.
• Current, valid CPR Certification.
• Knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations and laws.
• A desire to learn and grow as part of a quality focused clinical team.
• A strong commitment to helping others and consistently treating them with empathy, respect, patience, and discretion.
