Job summary

Cedarhurst of McHenry is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing in leading the community’s clinical operations and delivering high-quality resident care. You will oversee nursing and caregiving staff, drive compliance, training, and continuous improvement while promoting safety, wellbeing and dignity for all residents.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing school and an active RN/LPN license.
• CPR and BLS certification preferred.
• Experience in senior care and dementia care preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and care management documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist Director of Nursing in maintaining nursing practice standards within the community.
• Oversee medications, treatments, and nursing services per care plans.
• Develop and maintain in-service education for nursing staff.
• Conduct daily rounds to monitor the delivery of nursing care.
• Participate in management team planning, policy formation, and administrative decisions.
• Assess residents for appropriate levels of care and coordinate staffing accordingly.
• Schedule department coverage to meet labor budgets and AOD guidelines.
• Ensure effective communication with residents’ families and document care appropriately.
• Hire, train, supervise, and retain a high-performing care team.
• Promote safety, wellbeing, and dignity for residents and support occupancy goals.
