Job summary

Runnells Rehab Center in New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to lead nursing services, coordinate clinical activities, and support the DON in managing the facility's care delivery.

The ADON will supervise staff, ensure regulatory compliance, mentor nursing personnel, and promote high-quality behavioral health care for residents through rigorous documentation and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited hospital or school of professional nursing (diploma or baccalaureate).
• Currently registered in New Jersey.
• 2+ years of experience in nursing leadership.
• Experience in supervision and teaching in a behavioral health setting.
• Knowledge of DOH and Federal regulations as they relate to behavioral health.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and motivate nursing staff.
• Advanced knowledge of psychotropic medication management.
• Lead by example.

Responsibilities

• Leads units and conducts staff meetings to keep nursing staff informed.
• Completes investigations in a timely manner and reports to DON and IDCP Team when appropriate.
• Works as a team member with all departments to provide optimum care.
• Monitors nursing staff compliance with documentation.
• Coordinates and integrates nursing service with other services for continuum of care.
• Maintains professional relationships with patients and families about nursing needs.
• Conducts chart audits and monitors RN and MHW documentation compliance.
• Delegates/completes Pharmacy Consultant’s Report timely.
• Oversees nursing staff to ensure patient needs are met and conducts daily quality rounds.
• Organizes daily work and prioritizes projects; requests extensions when needed.
• Monitors/delegates compliance and accuracy of Monthly Re-Caps.
• Reviews nursing staff 24 Hr Reports and raises issues at morning meetings.
• Monitors Narcotics counts and glucometer function testing, daily equipment checks.
• Attends meetings related to patient care: Nursing Management, Family Meetings, QA, etc.
• Monitors documentation of new admissions and develops treatment plans.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The ADON takes the management lead over specific duties and of the facility by directing and supervising the coordination of all services and assists the DON with the managerial and clinical activities of the facility.

PART 1: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND STANDARDS

1. Takes lead over units and conducts staff meetings regularly to keep nursing staff informed.

2. Completes investigations in a timely manner and reports to the DON and the IDCP Team when appropriate.

3. Works as a team member with all other departments to give optimum level of care, fosters a team approach.

4. Monitors nursing staff compliance with documentation.

5. Coordinate and integrate the nursing service with other services to provide a continuum of care for the patients.

6. Maintain professional relationships with patients and their families regarding methods of meeting the nursing care needs and other related problems of the patient.

7. Conducts chart audits regularly and monitors nursing staff (RN and MHW) compliance with all required MDS 3.0 documentation.

8. Delegates/completes Pharmacy Consultant’s Report in a timely manner.

9. Oversees nursing staff to make sure that patients’ needs are being met properly. Conducts daily quality rounds.

10. Able to organize & prioritize daily work and meet deadlines for assigned projects. Requests deadline extension when unable to meet target dates.

11. Monitors/delegates compliance and accuracy of Monthly Re-Caps done by nurses of respective units.

12. Reviews the nursing staff 24 Hr Reports and aids in bringing patient’s issues to the morning meetings for resolution.

13. Monitors compliance with: Narcotics Count, Glucometer’s function testing Emergency Equipment daily check.

14. Attends all meeting related to patients care as applicable: Nursing Management, Family Meetings, Morning Meetings, QA Meetings, etc.

15. Monitor staff documentation of new admissions/re-admissions and develops respective treatment plans.
