Description

As an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) with Good Shepherd, you will make a difference each and every day by helping to oversee the operation of Good Shepherd’s Skilled Nursing services in conjunction with the DON through coaching and supervision of employees responsible for the delivery of care.

Assistant Director of Nursing Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the clinical units in conjunction with the Case Managers
  • Oversee the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program
  • Function as the clinical liaison for the DON monitoring systems, evaluating collected data and implementing corrective actions
    • Assure that all licensed staff are aware of nursing practice standards, expectations and function within identified licensure
  • Function as the primary resource regarding Minimum Data Set (MDS) regulations
  • Understand and follow the Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy reporting procedures
  • Responsible for completing staff evaluations in conjunction with the DON
  • Delegate tasks and coach staff on an ongoing basis in conjunction with the Case Managers and DON as appropriate
    • Work with interdisciplinary team to coordinate nursing and other resident care services
    • Perform ongoing monitoring, audits and interventions to ensure that all rules, regulations, policies and procedures are followed in the provision of quality care
  • Encourage and direct ongoing “survey readiness” for annual surveys related to State and Federal Regulations
    • Be an active advocate for Good Shepherd clients and the elderly with legislators, policy makers and potential financial supporters

Qualifications

Assistant Director of Nursing Qualifications

  • At least three years of RN long term care experience
  • Management and leadership experience preferred
  • Current training, knowledge and extended experience in long term care practices, geriatric, rehabilitation, psychiatric nursing, nursing service administration, quality assurance
  • Must have a current Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) certification
  • Experience with the MDS process and total quality management preferred
  • Must be organized, possess critical thinking skills, and be computer proficient
  • Education: Current RN licensure in Minnesota
