Job summary

Berkley East Healthcare Center in Santa Monica, CA, is seeking a dedicated RN Supervisor to assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and directing daily nursing operations. The role emphasizes quality care, regulation compliance, and support for staff and residents.

You will coordinate staffing, assist with admissions and care plans, and participate in policy development and surveys. Strong communication and leadership are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Valid RN license required, CPR and BLS certifications.
  • Minimum 2 years’ supervisory experience in health care.
  • Minimum 6 months in rehabilitative/restorative nursing.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication; strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with PCC a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain professionalism.
  • Collaborates and works independently, following procedures and proposing improvements.
  • Completes tasks on time and communicates successes, challenges, and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor scheduling and staffing to meet daily requirements.
  • Assist nursing staff with admissions, medication passes, wound care, and related tasks.
  • Develop and update department policies/procedures governing nursing services.
  • Interact with residents, families, and staff to ensure care plans are followed.
  • Coordinate with MDS to schedule care plan meetings and review records.
  • Contribute to developing nursing service org structure and discharge planning.
  • Perform rounds to ensure patient needs are met and tasks completed.
  • Assist with surveys and implement corrective actions.
  • Report occupational exposures and stay updated on regulatory changes.
  • Participate in committees and annual in-service trainings.
  • Handle administrative duties and assist with resident admissions and PASARR screenings.

Position Summary:

Assists and supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department in accordance with all governmental regulations, and as may be directed by the Administrator, Medical Director, and/or DON, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is always maintained.

  • Valid RN license, in good standing, current CPR and BLS certifications
  • Minimum, two (2) years’ experience as a supervisor in health care setting
  • Minimum six (6) months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices
  • Outstanding communication (oral/written), organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with PCC a plus
  • Ability to multi-task and treat everyone at work kindly and professionally
  • Works collaboratively and independently, following procedures and guidelines, making recommendations for improvements
  • Completes tasks on time, reporting up on successes, challenges, and offering solutions to problems

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors scheduling and staffing to ensure daily PPD requirements are met
  • Aids nursing staff as needed (includes admissions, medication passes, wound care, etc.)
  • Participates in developing, updating and implementing department policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department.
  • Interacts with residents and families/responsible parties and staff; instilling confidence in care, answering questions, giving directions and ensuring care plans are followed
  • Works with MDS Coordinator to schedule care plan meetings and reviewing resident records to ensure they are updated and accurate
  • Assist in developing and communicating a nursing service organization structure
  • Participates in discharge planning
  • Makes rounds to ensure patient needs are met and employees are completing assignments
  • Assists in surveys (inspections); and following up with corrective measures
  • Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals as required by state and federal law
  • Remains up to date on regulations pertaining to clinical and skilled nursing practices
  • May serve on committees and work with other department leaders as assigned
  • Participates in, and complies with, annual facility in-service training programs and requirements
  • Performs administrative and clerical duties such as charting, completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc., as necessary and/or assigned
  • Participates in interviewing and selecting appropriate residents for admission to the facility, including PASARR screenings
