Responsibilities:

1. Ensure adequate 24-hour nursing coverage in the facility
2. Assist the DON in determining the staffing needs of the nursing service department
3. Monitor staff education and conduct in-service training as necessary
4. Resolve personnel problems and motivate employees, keeping them informed of changes affecting patient care
5. Develop work assignments, schedule duty hours, and assist nursing supervisory staff with these tasks
6. Delegate authority to Charge Nurses and Nurse Supervisors for their duties
7. Supervise admissions and readmissions for Medicare Skilled services eligibility
8. Notify providers within 24 hours of resident status changes
9. Perform daily rounds to ensure standards are met and report to DON
10. Provide residents with a safe, clean, and comfortable environment
11. Monitor medication passes and treatments for compliance
12. Provide direct nursing care as needed
13. Perform other duties as assigned
