Job summary

FutureCare is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to lead daily operations of a nursing unit under the Director of Nursing. You will ensure compliance with policy and regulations while supervising staff and coordinating care to residents.

The ideal candidate holds an active Maryland RN license, a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (preferred), and at least 3 years of progressive LTC or acute care experience, with proven leadership abilities and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active Registered Nurse license issued in Maryland
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university strongly preferred
• Minimum of 3 years progressive experience in an acute or long-term care facility
• Proven leadership abilities and supervisory experience
• Must possess a current CPR license

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of assigned unit to ensure quality service in accordance with facility policy and State and Federal regulations
• Prepares and submit staffing plans for review and approval by Director of Nursing
• Coordinate duties of nursing personnel based on resident care needs, available staff and unit needs
• Establishes infection prevention and control policies and procedures
• Promotes inter-professional teamwork in care delivery for residents
• Performs daily rounds evaluating care rendered and supervising staff
• Attends interdisciplinary conferences and provides input to the residents’ plan of care
• Participates in annual budget process by identifying staff and equipment needs for the next fiscal year
• Adheres to FutureCare’s code of ethics and compliance plan
• Assist with interviewing applicants for open nursing positions
• Counsel nursing staff on deficiencies in performance and attendance
• Orienting new nursing staff and observe/monitor performance
• Identify unsafe or incorrect practices and institute corrective action
• Review unit incidents and initiate investigation of questionable issues
• Monitor completeness of resident records
• Serve as role model and maintain clinical competency
• Maintain and improve clinical knowledge to stay current in standards

Salary Disclosure Statement

• Monitor the relevance, accuracy and completeness of information recorded in the resident’s medical record
• Serves as a role model for the nursing unit and demonstrate clinical competency in care of residents
• Maintains and improves clinical knowledge base and skills to remain current in practical standards
