Job description

The Opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Daytona Beach campus is seeking an energetic Assistant Director of Fitness Facility Operations and Risk Management. This role oversees all facility operations-related aspects for the Department of Fitness and Wellness, including reservations, welcome desk, event scheduling, and building maintenance. The Assistant Director will coordinate with staff, vendors, and patrons to ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness, and operational soundness of the Fitness and Wellness spaces (including the outdoor pool) and related scheduling needs.

The Assistant Director assists in departmental strategic planning, forecasting budget needs, managing equipment inventories, and reconciling fiscal obligations such as expense reports and purchase requisitions. The incumbent will serve as the master administrator for the facility management software, managing access, scheduling, and maintenance concerns.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing daily operations of the facility, pool, and lawns, including event requests and billing
  • Handling facility repair requests and coordinating with vendors
  • Managing the Coordinator of Outdoor Adventures
  • Managing departmental purchasing and reconciling transactions

Employee management and development

  • Supporting and managing staff including the Coordinator of Outdoor Adventures, Welcome Desk Staff, Lifeguards, and Water Safety Instructors
  • Recruiting, hiring, training, and providing leadership to staff
  • Conducting training sessions and scheduling staff coverage
  • Managing certifications, scheduling, and risk management training for employees

Administrative duties

  • Supporting operational, fiscal, and program management needs
  • Managing facility reservations and event scheduling
  • Responding to participant inquiries and monitoring supplies
  • Reconciling departmental purchasing card

Qualifications
