Assistant Director of Assessment
Queensborough Community College, ranked the #1 Best Community College in New York State (Niche, 2027), is a member of the City University of New York (CUNY). The College seeks an Assistant Director of Assessment to strengthen its culture of evidence-based continuous improvement. Reporting to the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness, the Assistant Director of Assessment coordinates programmatic and Administrative and Education Support (AES) assessment across the College and serves as a working liaison between the Office of Institutional Research and the Director of Assessment, ensuring that data and assessment findings are shared across units and used to close the loop from findings to measurable improvement. The Assistant Director also manages program review follow-up, contributes to specialized accreditation, and helps evaluate the College's major initiatives and externally funded grants.
This position requires the incumbent to work in the office at least four days a week. This hybrid work schedule is subject to change.
Coordinate course and program learning outcomes assessment in collaboration with the Director of Assessment, including collecting assessment plans and reports, reviewing them for quality against established rubrics, and providing feedback to departments.
Coordinate Administrative and Education Support (AES) assessment, working with units to design, implement, and document assessment plans aligned with institutional goals.
Help manage the College's assessment management platform, including user support, report templates, and documentation of closing-the-loop actions.

Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of student learning outcomes data, including disaggregated analysis to identify equity gaps; prepare summary reports with recommendations for departments and leadership; and help set assessment goals and targets for future cycles.
Serve as a working liaison between Institutional Research and the Director of Assessment, helping align data definitions, timelines, and reporting so that academic assessment, AES assessment, and institutional research draw on a shared, governed evidence base.
Translate assessment questions from faculty and administrative units into researchable data requests and translate Institutional Research (IR) outputs into actionable findings for assessment and improvement processes.
Maintain an annual integrated evidence calendar aligning assessment cycles, program review, CUNY Performance Management Process (PMP) reporting, and accreditation milestones, and coordinate related reporting to college leadership, CUNY, and external organizations, in coordination with the Dean.
Build unit-level capacity through consultation and workshops and contribute to the College's assessment professional development offerings (e.g., the Queensborough Assessment Institute and AES workshop series).
Track completion, quality, and closing-the-loop documentation across academic and AES units.
In collaboration with Institutional Research, maintain assessment and program review dashboards that incorporate program review results, assessment findings, and key performance indicators, giving departments a live view of program health and improvement actions.
Manage follow-up on findings from program reviews and specialized accreditors: track recommendations, monitor action plans with responsible parties and timelines, and compile documentation of resulting change and impact.
Contribute to specialized/programmatic accreditation (e.g., ACEN, ABET-related, and other discipline accreditors) by assisting programs with the assessment of student learning outcomes and program goals required by their accreditors, mapping those standards to MSCHE standards, and aligning data usage so that evidence collected for specialized accreditation also meets regional accreditation and institutional reporting needs.
Help evaluate, under the direction of the Dean, the College's major initiatives and externally funded grants, including data collection and analysis to identify which components have measurable impact on student success, equity, and institutional outcomes, and to meet funder reporting requirements (e.g., NSF, DOE, foundation grants); collaborate with faculty on the assessment components of teaching and learning initiatives, including grant proposals and reports.
Perform related duties as assigned by the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness.
