Job summary

The Assistant Director of Research Development and Management at the Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment (iSEE) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign leads the research program strategy and oversees all phases of the grant lifecycle. Qualifications

• Master’s degree in science, engineering, or social science field.
• Minimum of four years' direct experience with research development and engagement with research teams.
• Experience with research proposal writing and securing/managing federal grants (NSF, USDA, DOE, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Shape the institute's research portfolio strategy and oversee the grant lifecycle.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary proposals and collaborate with faculty teams across disciplines.
• Coordinate interaction with SPA, academic units, and other offices to ensure timely, well-executed iSEE-led proposals.
• Develop seed proposal calls and organize review teams for submitted proposals.
• Organize interdisciplinary team-building workshops and networking among campus scholars.
