Job summary

Brown University seeks an Assistant Director of Student Activities for Identity and Belonging to lead inclusive student experiences and advocate for belonging across campus. You will advise ~90 student organizations, design educational initiatives, and partner with identity centers to coordinate advising and programming.

The role requires collaboration with the SAO, a commitment to social justice in education, and flexibility to work evenings/weekends as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Social Justice Education, or a related field required plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in event planning or program development.
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Social Justice Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in an academic setting is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in crisis management or responding to student activism/protest is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and comprehensive advising for ~90 student organizations focused on culture, identity, religion, and gender.
  • Design, implement, and facilitate educational initiatives, training, and dialogues related to inclusive excellence, belonging, and engagement.
  • Serve as subject matter expert bridging SAO and university identity centers to ensure coordinated advising.
  • Develop diversity and inclusion strategies, manage risk for high-impact events, and support professional development of student leaders.
