Job summary

Northeastern University’s Cultural and Spiritual Life (CSL) seeks an Associate Director to lead programs and services centered on belonging, wellbeing, and inclusive student experiences for a diverse campus community.

Reporting to the Director of the John D. O’Bryant African American Institute, the role manages budget, assessment, and collaborations with campus partners to advance the African diasporic Center’s mission on the Boston campus and beyond. Night/weekend hours are required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field with 3-5 years of experience working with diverse or marginalized populations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of issues and concerns relevant to the African diaspora and youth or young adults.
• Knowledge of social justice issues and curriculum development related to cultural issues and advocacy.
• Direct services experience to historically underrepresented students in urban, multicultural and global environments preferred.
• Working knowledge of Business Administration and Africana Studies highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead creation, development, implementation, budgetary coordination, and assessment of programs and services directly related to student health, wellbeing, belonging, and experience.
• Serve as primary contact with university partners on student care and resourcing; lead outreach and education efforts as needed.
• Supervise full-time professional staff, advise student organizations and affinity groups, and mentor student staff.
• Collaborate with the Director to ideate, manage, and execute signature Center programs and initiatives.
• Develop culturally sustaining resources and quality assurance practices to empower learners as peer mentors and leaders.
