Job summary

Conway Medical Center seeks an Assistant Director of Medical Records, Privacy Officer, to lead the Medical Records operations and ensure HIPAA compliance. The role oversees policy implementation, staff guidance, and regulatory adherence across the department at Conway Medical Center.

The position requires RHIT/RHIA certification, a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or ART with supervisory background, and at least 2 years of medical records leadership experience in hospital

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or ART with supervisory background.
• RHIT or RHIA certification required; Registered Record Administrator or Accredited Record Technician certification.
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Record experience; leadership in hospital/physician group required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing clinical policies and protocols.
• Provide guidance and support for the medical staff.
• Thorough knowledge of all jobs in the Medical Record Department.
• Knowledge of Federal, State, Local and organizational requirements for reporting and retention of medical records.
• Strong leadership abilities and excellent critical thinking.
• Effective communication with physicians and staff.
• Privacy Officer must be well versed in HIPAA Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules.
• Staff training on HIPAA and ensuring compliance.
• Incident response for privacy breaches and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with administrative team to optimize patient flow and ensure operations.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure proper PHI disclosures and data retention; DRG data accuracy.
• Assist physicians to document records for accurate billing.
• Supervise department staff and ensure equipment is in working order.
