Job summary

Georgetown University seeks an Assistant Director, First Generation Student Initiatives (STEM) for a one-year term, renewable up to three years. This hybrid role supports RSSP and First Fellows with advising, program operations, and a 1-credit seminar each semester.

The position advances belonging and a scientific identity for first‑gen students in CAS. Reporting to the Associate Dean, the incumbent collaborates with multiple units, mentors students, and helps shape pathways toward STEM careers

Qualifications

• MA/MS or equivalent in a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of academic administration and advising.
• Experience supporting first-generation or underserved students.
• Familiarity with STEM curricula and pre-med track requirements.
• Excellent communication, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one holistic advising to a cohort of first-gen STEM/Premed students.
• Support RSSP and First Fellows in internships, research, and graduate pathways.
• Help plan program events and workshops, and coordinate community-building activities.
• Teach up to two sections of a 1-credit success seminar each semester.
• Develop updated course content reflecting students' needs.
