Job Description

The Department of Auxiliary Services at the College of SouthernNevada generates and manages business through an array ofnon-academic services that CSN students, faculty, and staff needand value. Auxiliary Services include printing services, graphicdesign, copier and printer programs, motor pool services, andcampus identification services. Auxiliary Services also managescontracted services including bookstore operations, transportationservices, vending services, food, and catering services. Thefunctions assigned to the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Servicesserve a critical role in the delivery and support of essentialservices to the College.


This position encompasses a variety of complex tasks that primarilyinclude, but are not limited to, financial planning, budgetoversight, oversight of data and analytics tools, and oversight ofCSN's Inclusive Access course material program. The AssistantDirector will work closely with the Director of Auxiliary Serviceson financial management and fiduciary responsibilities for allAuxiliary accounts, contracts, self-supporting accounts, and stateappropriated funds. The Assistant Director will engage in ongoingbudgetary strategies, including assessment and projections, andwill oversee planning and development for all data and assessment.Compilation and delivery of complex reports related to data andfinancial management to college leadership is expected.


All but one of the functions assigned to Auxiliary Services areself-supporting or revenue generating, and thus constantinteraction, review, and intervention is required to ensureoperational efficiency, performance by third party contractors,accurate billing, proper accounting, and addressing vendor concernsand issues. The incumbent must successfully balance constituentneeds, contract obligations, cost considerations, budget impact,and service delivery in the decision making and implementationprocesses, and the incumbent must communicate operational statusaccurately and succinctly to college management and internalstakeholders.


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 4 years related professional experience.

  • Financial planning and budget management experience.

  • Experience preparing detailed, accurate, and timelyreporting.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with proposal formulation, scope of work, and theassessment of vendor proposals.

  • Contract formulation/negotiation, contract monitoring, andunderstanding contract provisions.

  • Knowledge of NSHE policies and procedures and policyimplementation.


The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge,skills, and abilities:


  • Knowledge of unique budget processes and systems for CSN andthe Nevada System of Higher Education (e.g., Workday, PeopleSoft,and Contracts +).

  • Knowledge of the Qlik Sense data analytics platform.

  • Knowledge of personnel management.

  • Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current softwareapplications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite(Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Make decisions and take actions independently for a variety ofdiverse situations.

  • Show a high degree of creativity and initiative.


Salary information:

Administrative Faculty D - The starting salary is $95,588.
