Job Description
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $67,350 to $84,200; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Field Education, the Assistant Director, FieldEducation is responsible for studentplacement development and agency recruitment. S/he manages and advises students in agencyplacements. S/he supervises assignedadjunct faculty who are student advisors. S/he provides a variety ofadministrative tasks to assist in the development and operations of the FieldPlacement Department. S/he assists the Assistant Dean, Field Education in the organization, development, and implementation of the Placement ManagementProcess.
SSWstudent body consists of 650 MSW students. Field Education Department is comprised of the Assistant Dean, Field Education, six Assistant Director, Field Education,and Field Education Program Assistant.
Essential Functions: Domestic and International Placement Management
- Recruits agencies forplacements
- Identify potential agencies
- Telephone contact to agencies
- Complete a site visit
- Complete agency evaluationpaperwork
- Input new agencies intoPlacement Data File
- Support and monitor agencies
- Collects and files advisorreports and placement meeting reports
- Participates in PlacementManagement Meetings
- Assists the field team in theplacement of students
- Participate in Placement Forum(orientation meeting) for Clinical Students
- Review student applications
- Interview assigned students
- Write up Placement InterviewSummary
- Participate in weeklyPlacement Meetings
- Communicate with agencies toset up student interviews
- Follow up on student/agencyinterviews to confirm placement
- Submit appropriate paperworkto establish placement assignment
Essential Functions: Domestic and International Student Advising
- Provides course and fieldadvising to 15 students
- Contacts students and agenciesin September
- Collects Learning Contracts inOctober
- Meets with students monthlyand as needed
- Visits Agencies at least onceeach semester and additional times as needed
- Reviews student performanceeach semester and submit grades
- Attends monthly FacultyAdvisor meetings
- Participates in managingstudent problems as needed
- Submits Student ProfessionalReports at the end of Spring Semester
Supervision of Student Advisors
- Orients and train advisors
- Provides support and consultationon a needed basis
- Monitors performance ofStudent Advisors
- Provides consultation toStudent Advisors on placement problems
- Participates in PlacementManagement Meetings when appropriate
Management of Summer Block Placement Program
- Organizes theSummer Block placements and field seminar
- Participates inStudent Orientation
- Participates in Summer FieldSeminars
- Serves as the Student Advisorto 8 to 15 students
Special Projects
- Performs special projects asassigned by the Assistant Dean, Field Education
Resource and Referral
- Provide program coverage oneday/week to respond to student and agency request for help and information
Somelocal domestic and international travel required.

Requirements
- Master of Social Work degree required
- At least three years of professional experience required
- Strong organizational and communications skills required
- Experience with issues related to placement of students in agencies required
- Proficiency with MS Office suite required
- Familiarity with databases (Apex preferred) required
- Ability to follow-through on tasks independently required
- Ability to function as part of a team required
- Some supervisory experience preferred
