Job Description:

Position Salary Range: $60,000 - $67,000 annually; DOE

The Assistant Director of Experiential Learning is a highly consultative role designed to expand and elevate high-impact internship opportunities for ASU students. Operating within a collaborative university model, you will serve as a partner to employers, guiding them in designing equitable, mentorship-focused internship programs that align with ASU's diverse academic programs, student profiles, and academic timelines. Internally, you will drive systemic consistency and quality by leading the Internship Professionals Network (IPN) community of practice-facilitating quarterly meetings, sharing best practices and managing key communication channels, and curating resources that empower internship coordinators across all ASU campuses.

Essential Duties:
  • Collaborate closely with academic units and university partners to integrate experiential learning directly into student programs of study, ensuring opportunities are aligned with academic disciplines, curriculum requirements, and career readiness goals.
  • Serve as a lead primary consultant for employers, offering expert guidance, industry insights, and strategic recommendations to help organizations design, launch, or enhance high-impact experiential learning
  • Serve as a subject matter expert within Career Services on experiential learning.
  • Educate and train others on best practices and evolving trends.
  • Create and deliver educational resources, workshops, and toolkits for employer partners, with a focus on recruiting best practices, equitable hiring, and meaningful student mentorship.
  • Bridge the gap between industry needs and academic preparation, advising employers on how to align their experiential opportunities with ASU student profiles and academic timelines.
  • Partner with colleges, academic departments, and key campus stakeholders to identify, develop, and scale high-impact, on-campus internship opportunities that broaden student access to experiential learning.
  • Oversee and lead the Internship Professionals Network (IPN), serving as the central convener and resource hub for internship professionals across the ASU ecosystem.
  • Design, facilitate, and execute IPN quarterly meetings, workshops, and community-building initiatives to foster collaboration, share best practices, and align university-wide experiential learning standards.
  • Develop and maintain consistent communication channels (e.g., newsletters, digital platforms, resource libraries) to keep IPN members informed, engaged, and connected.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience leading, growing, or facilitating a professional network, community of practice, or coalition of cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, project management, and strategic planning within higher education, career services, or corporate recruiting.
  • Experience consulting with external organizations, businesses, or industry partners to design, implement, or improve internship programs and talent pipelines.
  • Knowledge of current industry trends, National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) career readiness competencies, and equitable hiring/recruitment practices.
  • Strong public speaking, presentation, and facilitation skills, with a proven track record of designing and delivering dynamic workshops, training sessions, and large-group meetings.
