Job summary

Boston College is seeking an energetic and dedicated Assistant Director of Employer Engagement to join the Career Center. The role reports to the Associate Director of Employer Engagement and focuses on cultivating relationships with employers, alumni, parents, and campus partners to expand opportunities for BC students.

The Assistant Director will lead outreach, develop an employer partnership strategy for targeted industries, manage on-campus and virtual recruiting events, and collaborate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in employer engagement, external relations, talent management or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with external and internal stakeholders such as employers, faculty, staff, students, and campus partners.
  • Team-oriented approach with openness to feedback and collaboration to achieve goals.
  • Commitment to supporting all students and developing relationships with inclusive employers.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in using online platforms such as Handshake (or similar), CRMs and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Comfort using data to inform strategic decisions and assess program effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive outreach to target organizations and develop an employer partnership strategy for assigned industries.
  • Provide programmatic management and support for employer engagement initiatives including career fairs, networking events, and on-campus/virtual recruiting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within and outside the Career Center to advance the office's goals and mission.
  • Work within BC’s three-step career development model (Explore, Prepare, Act) to support student needs at each stage.
  • Maintain current knowledge of employment market trends to align opportunities with student interests.

Job Description
Assistant Director of Employer Engagement

Boston College is seeking an energetic and dedicated Assistant Director of Employer Engagement to join the Career Center team. Reporting to the Associate Director of Employer Engagement, the Assistant Director will cultivate and maintain successful relationships with organizations, alumni, parents, academic and student affairs departments, and other Boston College stakeholders to increase the overall number of employers and meaningful opportunities available to Boston College students for their career development.

The Assistant Director is a key relationship builder with existing and future employer partners and is committed to offering superior customer service to ensure positive and successful recruiting and hiring outcomes at Boston College. The Assistant Director must remain current with the employment marketplace including trends, research, and best practices within both the employment community and student populations to ensure that the Career Center is providing opportunities that are properly aligned with students’ interests and pursuits.

Responsibilities include conducting proactive outreach to target organizations, developing and implementing an employer partnership strategy for assigned industries and providing programmatic management and support for employer engagement initiatives including (but not limited to) career fairs, networking events, and on-campus and virtual recruiting. Additionally, the Assistant Director will engage in other collaborations with colleagues both within and external to the Career Center to advance the goals and mission of our work.

The Assistant Director’s work will be informed by our three-step career development model – Explore, Prepare, Act - which considers the needs of students at each stage of this process. The Center embraces the value of a Jesuit liberal arts education, which prepares students to discern their gifts and talents and how they want to use them to engage the world.

Each staff member in the Division of Student Affairs is expected to support division and university-wide initiatives, staff events, and serve on committees as needed.

Commensurate With Experience And Qualifications Within The Following Ranges

0-3 years: $67,360 - $84,200

3+ years: $74,440 - $93,050

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required; relevant Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in employer engagement, external relations, talent management, career advising or a combination of these areas is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively build and manage relationships with external and internal stakeholders, namely employers, faculty, staff, students, and/or other campus partners.
  • Team-oriented approach, openness to feedback and strong ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve common goals.
  • Commitment to working and supporting all of our students and a proven track record of developing relationships with inclusive employers.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication (oral, written, and presentation) skills and strong organizational abilities.
  • Commitment to strong customer service with the desire to enhance and support the office’s image, goals, and objectives through each individual interaction.
  • Demonstrated skills in program management and assessment.
  • Adept in using online platforms and applications such as Handshake (or a comparable career services platform), CRMs and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Comfort using data to inform strategic decisions, assess program effectiveness, and enhance employer engagement and job development strategies.
