Job summary

The University of Virginia’s External Relations team is seeking a collaborative, creative, and highly organized professional to serve as Assistant Director of Donor Relations. You’ll help create meaningful donor experiences that recognize generosity and strengthen their connection to UVA.

You will manage projects from concept through implementation, curate personalized stewardship for major donors, coordinate events, and work across schools and programs to advance UVA’s mission in a hybrid

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required and relevant experience preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
• Experience in donor relations, stewardship, events, or related nonprofit work valued.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and use new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement donor recognition strategies and stewardship touchpoints.
• Coordinate donor events, invitations, registrations, and day-of execution.
• Manage programs from planning through evaluation with cross‑functional teams.
• Use data and dashboards to evaluate effectiveness and identify trends.
• Collaborate with vendors and university partners to deliver quality materials.
