Job summary

The University of Virginia’s External Relations team seeks a collaborative, highly organized Assistant Director of Donor Relations to create meaningful donor experiences and strengthen philanthropy.

You will manage projects from concept to evaluation, curate personalized stewardship for principal donors, coordinate signature events, and work with collaborators across UVA to align engagement with institutional priorities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum one year of relevant experience.
Excellent attention to detail and quality.
Strong written and verbal communication.
Solid organizational and project management skills.
Customer service mindset and donor-centric approach.
Willingness to learn new technologies and processes.
Ability to improve programs and workflows.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement donor recognition strategies with university partners.
Monitor giving activity and manage recognition communications.
Curate personalized stewardship for principal/leadership donors.
Manage donor communications across email, video, print and digital channels.
Collaborate with vendors for recognition items; ensure quality and timely fulfillment.
Maintain accurate donor, communication, and project records in CRM/PM systems.
Coordinate donor events and engagement experiences with stakeholders.
Use data and dashboards to evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities.
