About the Role:

To continue advancing the impact we have across the communities we serve, Commonpoint is hiring an Assistant Director of DGMH situated within CAPE at the Mental Health Division. The Mental Health Division plays a vital role in supporting older adults within the community. The individual hired as Assistant Director of DGMH will be responsible for oversight of the DGMH contract in collaboration with the Senior Director. This role reports directly to the Senior Director at CAPE.

Role Responsibilities:
Task Supervision & Staff Oversight:
  • Provide regular task supervision to DGMH clinicians, including oversight of program expectations, workflow, documentation, engagement, productivity, and follow-through.
  • Monitor staff performance related to assigned responsibilities, service delivery, documentation, and program requirements.
  • Support clinicians in prioritizing responsibilities, meeting deadlines, addressing barriers, and maintaining effective day-to-day functioning across assigned sites.
  • Review documentation, data entry, and required program records for completeness, timeliness, and adherence to agency and funder expectations.
  • Support clinicians in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with Older Adult Center directors, staff, members, families, and community partners.

  • Assist with onboarding, orientation, and ongoing training of DGMH staff.
  • Identify staff development, training, support, or performance needs and communicate significant concerns and recommendations to the Senior Director.
Clinical Support & Supervision Development:
  • Co-facilitate clinical consultation and case review with CAPE leadership.
  • Provide clinical support within the scope of current licensure, including consultation related to engagement, assessment, crisis response, referrals, coordination of care, and other clinical concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with leadership to support continuity between task supervision and clinical supervision.
  • Obtain New York State LCSW licensure within the first year of employment.
  • Upon obtaining the required clinical license, assume clinical supervision responsibilities for designated DGMH clinicians in accordance with New York State requirements, agency expectations, and professional standards.
  • Once clinically licensed, provide regular clinical supervision focused on assessment, treatment planning, clinical judgment, risk management, ethical practice, documentation, and professional development.
Site Oversight & Program Administration:
  • Conduct regular site visits to designated DGMH locations to provide staff oversight and support, assess program functioning, address operational needs, and maintain strong working relationships with Older Adult Center leadership.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for day-to-day operational issues across assigned sites and communicate significant clinical, staffing, or programmatic concerns to the Senior Director.
  • Monitor required program data, documentation, deliverables, and reporting to support compliance with DGMH, OMH, contractual, and agency requirements.
  • Track program performance and follow up with staff regarding outstanding documentation, reporting requirements, service expectations, and other identified needs.
  • Assist with preparation of reports, audits, monitoring visits, tracking tools, and other contract-related administrative responsibilities.
  • Support coordination among DGMH clinicians, CAPE leadership, Older Adult Center staff, and other internal and external partners.
  • Assist with implementation and refinement of workflows, procedures, and systems that promote consistency, accountability, and effective service delivery across sites.
  • Participate in program planning, quality-improvement activities, and problem-solving related to the ongoing operation of DGMH services.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meeting with NYC Aging staff to review and discuss state of the program.
Performance & Organizational Excellence:
