The role focuses on applying LLMs and AI tools to oncology/genomic data, shaping the office’s growth, and delivering data-driven solutions at scale within a university cancer center environment.

Qualifications

• EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience.
• Associate Director, Data Science Management: bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 10 years or master’s (or equivalency) + 8 years of directly related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Senior Director to represent the office in internal and external meetings, and report outcomes and actions.
• Assist in day-to-day leadership and growth of the Office of Data Science & AI, including strategy, staffing plans, and onboarding of new team members.
• Design, develop, and deploy LLM-driven and AI-powered analytical systems enabling natural-language interaction with biomedical, genomic, and clinical data.
• Develop evaluation frameworks to assess reliability, safety, and performance of AI outputs for research and clinical use.
• Lead and support analysis of real-world oncology data, including clinical safety monitoring and translational research.
• Translate research and clinical questions into analytic pipelines and dashboards using Python, R, and Streamlit.
• Partner with clinical, translational, and computational teams to implement high-value data science applications.
• Communicate technical findings and program updates to cross-functional audiences via presentations, reports, and manuscripts.
• Contribute to grant applications, publications, and conference presentations showcasing the office’s work.
• Coordinate annual symposiums, workshops, and seminars for the Office of Data Science & AI.
• Mentor rotation students, trainees, and junior staff engaged in data science and AI projects.
