Job summary

Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of New York is seeking an Assistant Director of Community Programming to lead the Spellman Center’s day-to-day operations and drive neighborhood engagement on the Lower East Side.

In collaboration with government relations and partners, you will design and evaluate programs, build coalitions, and ensure services align with community needs while expanding access to resources and opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in human services, nonprofit management, or community programming.
• Experience in community organizing, engagement, or coalition building required.
• Experience managing community facilities or multi-use centers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day operations of the Spellman Center, including site operations, client flow, scheduling, and building security.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate community programs, events, and initiatives addressing neighborhood needs.
• Conduct ongoing community needs assessments to inform program development.
• Engage residents and partner organizations through surveys, focus groups, and convenings.
• Build partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, funders, and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Program Directors to ensure coordinated operations and effective service delivery.
• Develop and manage a calendar of programs, events, and activities.
• Promote programs with Marketing and Communications; represent at community meetings and events.
• Assist with budget management, reporting, and facility usage; supervise staff.
