Job summary

Columbia University is seeking an Assistant Director for Clinical Research Analytics to lead the CDN program across CUIMC. You will standardize data access workflows, ensure regulatory-compliant data delivery, and guide a growing team of data professionals in delivering high-quality research datasets.

You will develop datasets using SQL and scripting, build Power BI reports, and partner with IT leadership to align data services with research goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience with at least five years in clinical data, analytics, or project management.
• Experience developing analytics with Epic Clarity database structures.
• Familiarity with clinical data standards (ICD, CPT, LOINC, RxNorm).
• Proficiency with relational databases and writing efficient SQL queries.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Commitment to fair, respectful workplace practices.
• Excellent written and spoken communication.

Responsibilities

• Oversee CDN personnel including performance evaluation and training.
• Provide functional leadership and mentoring to the CDN community by promoting consistent communication, collaboration, and best practices.
• Develop CDN career ladders, job descriptions, onboarding, training curriculum, and peer networking.
• Collaborate with institutional partners to optimize processes and governance for clinical data access for research.
• Develop and manage CDN project timelines and workflows; track progress and deliverables.
• Deliver research data services featuring data fidelity, security and compliance.
• Monitor KPIs related to data access, turnaround time and data quality; drive continuous improvement.
• Design and maintain SQL database objects and BI datasets; translate requirements into solutions.
• Support audit readiness and documentation; lead CDN data reporting and quality improvement.
