Job summary

Georgetown University seeks a seasoned project management professional to provide strategic direction to project managers overseeing a portfolio of construction projects across campus. You will ensure alignment with design standards, university goals, and timely delivery within budget.

You will collaborate with Facilities, Archives, and partner departments to manage turnover, training, and closeout, while maintaining strong relationships with faculty and public agencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a related field such as Civil, Structural, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Construction, Project Management, or Urban Planning.
  • Five to seven years of progressive management of large planning, design, and construction projects; or equivalent managerial experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Google Workspace, and project planning/scheduling software.

  • Directs project managers who lead teams of architects, engineers, construction managers, contractors, and O&M personnel.
  • Ensures project approvals from government agencies and community groups are secured.
  • Monitors adherence to budgets and schedules; conducts schematic reviews and onsite inspections; validates change orders.

Job Overview

Responsibilities
  • Provides direction to project managers who lead teams of consultant architects and engineers, construction managers, contractors, O&M personnel and contracting specialists.
  • Ensures all aspects of project management are effectively implemented and accomplished - such as project approvals from appropriate government agencies and community interest groups
  • Adherence to established project budgets and schedules; schematic design reviews, onsite inspections to evaluate contractor performance, confirmations of satisfactory progression of work, and assurance that change order management validates scope of work, justification and pricing.
  • Monitors work of the unit and takes appropriate steps to ensure that activities meet requirements.
  • Works collegially across the university to ensure that design standards, project goals and the University mission are documented, reviewed and achieved.
  • At the direction of the Director, the Assistant Director and technical staff manage 50-70 projects per year and average annual expenditures of +$50M.
  • Projects will vary in complexity and scope across all university properties.
  • Provide comprehensive support for the project turnover process including cross functional efforts with Facilities and related partners.
  • Work with the University Archivist to ensure a seamless transition from construction completion to active operations, including the transfer of documentation, training coordination, and closeout approvals.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering; Architecture or Landscape Architecture; Construction; Project Management; or Urban Planning.
  • Five to seven years of progressive management of large planning, design, and construction projects; and / or five to seven years of progressive managerial experience in the planning, design, and construction fields.
  • Must be computer literate in MS Office, the Google Workspace suite of projects, and fluent in project planning and scheduling software.
  • Requires a high level of interpersonal skills for daily interaction with faculty and staff, clients, GU managers, team members, and public agency officials
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Requires the ability to prepare clear and concise reports, a variety of matrices, oral presentations and code analyses
  • Licensed professional preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $80,429.00 - $157,238.93 Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors,
