Assistant Director Bilingual - Early Childhood Education Center

The Assistant Director supports the Center Director in planning, organizing, and overseeing all programs and operations at the center. This includes preschool, enrichment classes, summer camps, and other initiatives. The role demands strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain compliance with licensing standards while fostering positive relationships with staff, children, and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Center Director to maintain a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment.
  • Mentor and support teachers with training and professional development.
  • Oversee daily operations, including classroom monitoring, record-keeping, and compliance with licensing requirements (e.g., OSSE, NAEYC).
  • Manage financial tasks, such as tuition billing, subsidy reporting, and accounts receivable.
  • Communicate regularly with families through updates, newsletters, and meetings.
  • Support the admissions process, including tours and managing the parent committee.
  • Coordinate substitute teachers and assist with staff scheduling.
  • Ensure staff files are current in compliance with licensing standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Assistant Director or leadership role in early childhood education.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative leadership style.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and center management systems.
  • Fluency in Spanish required; additional fluency in French or Mandarin preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with NAEYC accreditation, OSSE standards, or the DC PreK Enhancement Program.
  • Knowledge of child development and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Ability to manage diverse teams and handle conflicts professionally.
