Job summary

Cub House on the Bayou Early Learning Center is seeking an Assistant Director with a growth mindset to support families and children. The ideal candidate will hold a CDA credential and have leadership experience in a Type III childcare center.

You will help manage center operations, supervise teaching staff, champion curriculum implementation, and build strong relationships with parents and the community. This role emphasizes safety, compliance, and staff development.

Qualifications

  • Minimum CDA credential required.
  • At least five years of leadership in a Type III childcare center.
  • Strong understanding of child development and early childhood education.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills.

  • First aid and CPR certifications preferred, with renewal as needed.
  • Physical stamina to lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment for children, staff, and families.
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations and center policies.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to teaching staff.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and the community.
  • Manage staff schedules, conduct evaluations, and provide professional development.
  • Act as substitute for the Director in their absence and lead in their stead.
  • Handle administrative duties such as record-keeping, reporting, budgeting, and enrollment.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Director who possesses a growth mindset and is committed to the success of our families and children. The ideal candidate will be a team player, have a minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, and have demonstrated leadership experience in a Type III childcare center for at least five years.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director in overall management and administration of the center.
  • Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and daily activities.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment for children, staff, and families.
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations and center policies.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to teaching staff.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and the community.
  • Manage staff schedules, conduct performance evaluations, and provide professional development opportunities.
  • Create a warm and inclusive atmosphere by welcoming children and parents and ensuring they feel embraced and comfortable.
  • Explain program guidelines to children and parents, ensuring everyone is informed and supported.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to inquiries from parents and prospective families.
  • Uphold stringent safety protocols to guarantee the well‑being and security of all children.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with parents, updating them about their child's progress, milestones, and participation.
  • Support the Director in leading and inspiring a dedicated team of teachers and support staff.
  • Assist in introducing and implementing curriculum enhancements and innovative teaching methods.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with community partners, organizations, and educational institutions.
  • Assist in conducting program evaluations, monitoring outcomes, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Act as substitute for the Director in their absence, assuming leadership responsibilities and making informed decisions.
  • Help manage administrative duties such as record‑keeping, documentation, reporting, budget management, and enrollment processes.
