Job summary

Divided Sky Foundation seeks an enthusiastic Assistant Dining Services Coordinator to plan nutritious meals for guests and maintain a clean, orderly kitchen. You will support recovery work in a mission-driven team and may act as Dining Services Coordinator in their absence.

Required are a high school diploma, Serv-Safe/Allergen Awareness, and 3+ years in high-volume food service. Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Allergen awareness and Serv-Safe certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • Minimum 3 years in high-volume institutional food service or related setting.
  • Experience coordinating or leading kitchen service is preferred.
  • Proficiency in sanitation, safe food handling and preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan menus that are flavorful, nourishing and seasonal.
  • Oversee guests with special dietary needs and update kitchen records.
  • Order food and supplies within budget and dietary guidelines.
  • Lead monthly baking classes with guests and supervise shifts.
  • Maintain kitchen and dining room cleanliness and equipment upkeep.
  • Approve time off and timesheets when acting as Dining Services Coordinator.

As Assistant Dining Services Coordinator, you will support individuals on their recovery journey by planning and creating nutritious meals and maintaining an orderly and clean kitchen. Position Description

Under general supervision of the Dining Services Coordinator, the Assistant Dining Service Coordinator (ADSC) provides dietary oversight for the Divided Sky Residential Recovery Retreat guests. The ADSC develops meal plans, including those for guests with dietary restrictions, prepares and portions meals, and maintains strict cleanliness and sanitary conditions of food service areas and equipment. The ADSC performs all duties of a Cook while providing operational leadership during assigned shifts and serving as the acting Dining Services Coordinator in the Supervisor's absence.

Accountabilities:
  • Plan menus that are flavorful, nourishing and reflective of seasonal selections
  • Provide oversight for guests with special dietary needs.
  • Maintain list with current guests’ dietary needs in kitchen in a visible location for all kitchen staff.
  • Order food, kitchen supplies, and cleaning products with consideration of budget and dietary guidelines.
  • Facilitate monthly baking hands on educational classes with guests.
  • Implement and oversee kitchen and dining room cleaning and equipment maintenance schedule.
  • Ensure continued high level of kitchen standard of cleanliness.
  • Approve time off requests and timesheets as needed when acting in the Dining Services Coordinator’s absence.
  • Other duties as delegated and assigned by the Dining Service Coordinator.
Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to maintain adequate inventory levels.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as recipes, ingredient lists, safety rules, and policy and procedure manuals.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Flexible team player.
Education, Experience, Skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current Allergen Awareness Certificate and Serv‑Safe certified (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire), maintain certification while employed by DSF.
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in high-volume institutional food service, healthcare, shelter, school food service, or commercial kitchen.
  • Previous experience coordinating or leading kitchen service preferred.
  • Proficiency in food service sanitation, proper food handling, and preparation.
  • Full-time equivalent kitchen experience in a health care facility preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with guests, volunteers, vendors, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must have or obtain within 30 days of hire obtain first aid and CPR card.
  • MS Office proficiency including MS Word, MS Outlook, and MS Excel.
Work conditions and physical requirements:
  • Work setting: Indoors, environmentally controlled. Varied temperatures including work near heated ovens and in refrigerated walk‑in coolers.
  • Body positioning: Spend time sitting and standing, making repetitive motions, spend time using hands to handle control or feel objects, tools or controls. Manual dexterity to handle knife work and food preparation. Frequently lift or move up to 40 lbs. and occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Communication: Contact with others, electronic email, in person discussions.
