Job summary

PMY Group is seeking an Assistant Designer to support the Structured Cabling design team on new construction and renovations. You will work under a lead designer, contributing to plan sheets, riser diagrams, conduit and cable tray details, and BIM documentation.

This is an entry-level design role with advancement potential. You will engage in documenting changes, coordinating with stakeholders, and maintaining project narratives.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years contracting experience in managing the implementation telecommunication systems, spaces and cable plant projects.
• Excellent attention to detail and well organized.
• Capable of working equally well as an individual contributor or as a team member.
• Maintain a professional and positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of interpreting design development and construction documents.
• Experience with Revit or AutoCAD is desirable; not required.
• Certifications such as BICSI ITS and/or from cable manufacturers are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Designer in meetings with project stakeholders and architects by taking notes and making markups.
• Provide input to achieve the Lead Designer’s vision while following design standards.
• Contribute to construction documentation portions (plan sheets, riser diagrams, conduit and cable tray details).
• Redline plans for BIM department to incorporate.
• Edit specifications in MS Word and research equipment.
• Prepare and maintain written narratives and emails for project communications.
• Review change orders, substitutions and other documentation under supervision.
• Assist during Construction Administration with RFIs, submittals and shop drawings.
• Collaborate with contractors and designers; visit sites to assess workmanship and design intent.
