Job summary

Confidential, a leading design house of affordable modern luxury in home textile products, seeks an enthusiastic textile designer to join our design team to create beautiful products, prints, CADs, and colorways.

You will develop prints from scratch, manage CADs, organize digital files, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align with merchandising plans. Portfolio submission required; this is an in-person, full-time role in New York.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years textile design experience in Home textile or apparel
• Degree in Textile Design or related field
• Excellent CAD skills
• Proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop; Ned Graphics a plus
• Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong calendar adherence

Responsibilities

• Create original prints from scratch or by manipulating existing artwork or branding elements for multiple product categories
• Clean and color separate and create repeats for the artwork
• Create fresh, desirable and brand-appropriate colorways of prints
• Create CADs of prints for in-house presentations
• Organize digital files in shared folders
• Work proactively according to development calendar and timelines
• Discuss priorities with Design Director and manage work schedule to meet daily/weekly goals
• Collaborate with design, product development and merchandising teams
• Support in creating design boards, presentations, and line sheets
• Update sketches, CADs, design boards, and line sheets; and manage tech packs with specs and sample notes
• Communicate with overseas mills from proto request to production approval
• Collaborate with Design and Production on developments and pricing
• Maintain fabric, material and trim libraries; develop new items for products
• Assist showroom preparation for Market week events

Job description

A leading design house of affordable modern luxury in Home textile products. We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented textile designer to work with our design team to create beautiful products.

Job Functions:

• Create original prints from scratch and/or through manipulation of existing artwork or branding elements for multiple product categories
• Clean and color separate and create repeats for the artwork
• Create fresh, desirable and brand appropriate colorways of prints
• Create CADs of prints for in-house presentations
• Organize digital files in shared folders
• Work proactively according to development calendar, to stay ahead of timelines
• Discuss priorities with Design Director and manage work schedule to achieve daily and weekly goals
• Partner with cross-functional departments within design, product development, and weekly meetings with merchandising,
• Work with Director and Designers to establish product direction and create/select designs to support merchandising plan for each product line and customer.
• Assist in creating design boards and presentations as well as internal working boards to support the design process.
• Assist in creating and manage updates for sketches, cads, design boards, and line sheets.
• Create and manage updates for tech packs including specs, technical information, and sample evaluation comments – keeps abreast of all design changes and comments from Design and Production teams
• Communicate with overseas mills from initial proto request through to production approval.
• Collaborate with Design and Production teams on developments and pricing.
• Maintain, fabric, material, and trim library; develop new items as they relate to your product categories.
• Assist in planning and preparing the showroom for customer meeting and Market week events.

Requirements

• 3-4 years of textile design work experience, in Home textile &/or apparel market
• Degree in Textile Design, or related field
• Excellent CAD skills
• Highly-developed taste level and excellent color sense
• Must be highly proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop user, additional proficiency in Ned Graphics a plus
• Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate as a team player
• Extremely organized and detail-oriented – excellent calendar adherence and ownership
• Excellent time management skills
